Observed versus predicted
At supported stations, ECHO EARTH can display water-level observation history and separately published tide predictions, including high and low events. These are different kinds of values and should never be merged into a fictitious live reading.
Source transparency
Provider identity, timestamp, reference datum and measurement units are essential. The app includes NOAA station-linked data for covered locations and may show gaps when observations are unavailable.
Place matters
A reading from one tide gauge does not represent every coastline or the deep sea. Use the station reference and supporting context when exploring a region.
